Mother’s Day
We went to church on Saturday night, right before Mother’s Day. They were giving roses out to all the moms after service. I didn’t know if I was technically eligible for this but a guy came running at me with a rose and said, “No mother shall get away!” Haha it was pretty funny. Secretly I was super stoked to get my first Mother’s Day gift. :)
Thursday, May 10th
Reese, Dean, and I (and baby) went to see the Real McKenzies and Reverend Horton Heat play at the Exchange. While looking at the merch tables, the singer for the McKenzies asks me, “What are you going to name your baby?”
Me: ”I don’t know yet. We don’t know if it’ll be a boy or a girl.”
He grabs a poster and writes on it, “Dear “I don’t know yet”… Happy baby! From the Real McKenzies”
He hands me the poster and says, “This is for the baby.” Awwww! Best present ever! :’) Then he tells me it’s nice to see another generation of punk rockers. Haha, that’s our baby! Just a lil rockstar. :p So we got a picture with Paul and Jesse to hang up with the poster next to the crib. Jesse was pointing to my belly and saying, “You were here!” Haha
It was a really good show and a really good night in general.
I was wondering where the heck you went!!
Back and forth from the city to the farm over and over makes for no time for Tumblr! Booooo!! Haha I’ll try to be better. :)
My bad….
I’m really really really behind on putting updates on here. I’m going to attempt to start putting up some pictures and updates from the past… 3 weeks…. yikes, where does the time go? It’s been an insanely busy month, and it’s still not over yet. Probably why I can’t sleep right now, haha. Too much stuff on the brain right now. Hopefully I can get some decent rest in before this baby comes. :)
Loading pictures off camera now… Updates coming soon.
Mmmm… the house smells of brownies.
We had another Dr appointment today. It went well again. Our obstetrician has an accent, so he always says, “This is goot.” Haha it’s awesome.
“The baby moves around a lot. This is goot.”
“The baby has a strong heartbeat. This is goot.”
It was cool today cause he whipped out this mini portable ultrasound machine! So we got to see our baby again today! Got to see his/her little feet just givin’er! So fun. :)
He said my blood pressure was low, which was fine he said cause usually pregnant women tend to be on the high side if anything. So I’m still good there.
He also thought my belly was small for 33 weeks so he got us to book an ultrasound for two weeks from now just to make sure everything’s “goot”, haha. I’m pretty confident it’ll be fine… I mean I’m kind of a smaller person and I was an average baby weight. Seven pounds something. And Reese was a small baby, six pounds something, who just so happened to grow into a giant of a man, haha. Both of us have smallish, slender heads too. I think the baby’s fine.
The Dr also got us to book our next check up for two weeks from now. We’re starting in with the more frequent check ups… getting closer to babyness! Only 7 more weeks. Baby must be getting excited, it’s been having a dance party in there all day today. It’s funny how it can kick me so hard that it makes me jump sometimes.
So I’m sitting here licking the bowl after I put these brownies in the oven, when I suddenly realize…
*Gasp!!*
This batter has a raw egg in it!!! I shouldn’t be eating this while I’m pregnant!!!
Then I start thinking thinking about all the other batters and doughs I’ve made while being pregnant…. all the other times I licked those bowls clean, too…. There has been nothing wrong with the pregnancy thus far. The baby has always been and still is healthy.
….
Continues licking bowl.
Today… Revenge of the Fifth. 32 weeks and 4 days.
My belly sits so low it keeps pushing down the front of the belly band. Makes me wonder what it’ll be like when it “drops”?? I can’t imagine it getting any lower than this! Haha.
***I’ve been trying to load this thing since yesterday. Internet was being el stupeed.
I sure like my research of things these days… :P
The weight that a woman needs to gain for her pregnancy has already been discussed, but how much of the weight is actually the baby’s weight? The weight that the mother gains, surely isn’t all the baby’s! And it is not; the entire baby weight or the entire weight that the mother gains includes several body tissues that develop during the pregnancy. A general break up of this is as follows:
- The proportion of the weight of the baby itself to the entire weight gain hovers around 8 pounds.
- 2 to 3 pounds of the weight qualifies as the placenta’s proportion.
- The Amniotic fluid adds around 2 to 3 pounds more to the entire weight.
- The extra breast tissue that develops (necessary for breast feeding) comprises of yet another 2 to 3 pounds of the total weight.
- The blood that is stored for the pregnancy amounts to about 4 pounds of the total weight gain.
- The extra fat that is stored for the delivery of the baby and breast feeding adds around 5 to 9 pounds to the total weight.
- The uterus increases in weight from 2 to 5 pounds
Also, another source said that a women will pee/urinate out 4-6 lbs of water weight within the first week after giving labour, because the body recognizes it doesn’t need all the retained water anymore. Interesting!
Well at least I got some stuff done. :P
Friday night last night… There were a few events I could’ve gone to: Bowling with my brother, sushi birthday party, going away party…. But seeing as we only brought my truck to the city, Reese takes it to work at night. So I had no method of transportation to go anywhere last night. Sad face. Especially since this is maybe going to be our last weekend in the city till Reese’s next week off. The rigs text him a couple days saying they want to start up on Wednesday. It has been raining a lot lately though, so we’re kinda hoping their plans get foiled. :P
But, anyways, I guess it was good to spend a night at home. I read/returned emails and finally got around to shopping online and adding more stuff to our gift registry at Sears. So not a very exciting Friday night, but at least I got some things done and out of the way. That is always a good feeling, too.
